The North High Class of 1988 Celebrates the Life of Our Classmate
Kelly J. Goosmann
(1970 -2008)
Kelly Joe Goosmann, 37, of Titonka, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, near Algona, Iowa, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Byers of Correctionville Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Kelly was born Aug. 20, 1970, in Sioux City, the son of Mike and Joline (Cunningham) Goosmann. He was raised in Sioux City and graduated from North High School in 1988. He was currently living in Titonka, where he owned and operated Lawn Manicurists in Algona.
He played for the Siouxland Youth Hockey team from age 5 to 18. He had a natural talent and passion for the sport. He also had a passion for racing. He raced modified and stock cars for many years, achieving a track championship. He also loved motocross racing as well. He loved to watch his brother, Jay, race motocross and dirt track modified.
He enjoyed foosball and darts. He was a member of the dart team in Algona. He enjoyed watching the UFC fights, playing poker and watching his favorite football team, the Vikings. He enjoyed golf and played in several tournaments.
He adored his family and friends. He loved playing with his nieces, Madison and Tayler. He loved "his girls" with all his heart and they loved their Uncle Kelly. He always had a smile on his face and was loved by everyone. He had numerous friends from the Titonka, Algona and Sioux City area. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his parents, Mike and Joline Goosmann of Hinton, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Jay and Autumn and their daughters, Madison, 5, and Tayler, 2, of Merrill, Iowa; paternal grandmother, Joyce Goosmann of Sioux City; maternal grandmother, Marianna Cunningham of Sioux City; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Kenneth Goosmann and Leon Cunningham; a grandmother, Carol Cunningham; an aunt, Stacy Beccard; and an uncle, George "Japper" Kennedy.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Goosmann, Doug Doocy, Steve Ditsworth, Josh Fax, Greg Peck and Todd Shoulders. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Doocy, Jason Schneiders, Mitch Ditsworth and Kent Husted.
